On 25th and 26th June Birkbeck is going to host a major international conference of the Network for European Cinema and Media Studies (NECS) entitled Sonic Futures: Soundscapes and the Languages of Screen Media. (The first two days of the conference, 23rd and 24th June, will take place at King's College).
Volunteers are needed who would like to help with the
conference when it is at Birkbeck on Saturday and/or Sunday. Given the size of the conference we are looking for up to 15 people.
In return you will be able to listen to all the papers in
the room you will be minding, attend the keynote speakers in the evening, and the conference receptions. NECS is also
offering a free society membership fee. You will also be able to attend the conference at King's as a regular delegate.
Please, let me know by next week if you are interested or if you have any questions. Email: firstname.lastname@example.org
Conference programme is attached.

The main task is looking after all the panel sessions taking place throughout a day in one of the 8 rooms we will have available at the Malet St. There will be 4 sessions with 5 speakers in each room on Saturday, and 2 sessions with 5 speakers in each room on Sunday.
Looking after the room will entail - preparing the room for each panel (i.e. tidying up after the previous one, setting up the name plates on the table, setting up water glasses and water for the speakers, turning the lights on/off if needed during the presentations, airing the room if necessary, etc). There will be a technician onsite but it would be useful if, in the case of emergency, you could help with AV problems if there are any.
