"And though the critical readings are both imaginative and smart, their net effect serves to invent a writer not unlike the one Borges describes, whose genius lies less in his poetry than in the fantastic arguments to be made for why his poetry should be admired."

Does anyone know which Borges story this refers to?

Where's that a quote from? It sounds familiar. 'The Garden of the Forking Paths', maybe?
The quote's actually from an essay that's just referencing Borges. I'm not sure whether it's a story or an essay it's referring to, but I haven't been able to find either. It sounds like a prototypical Borges story, but I'm not sure it actually exists. (Which is in itself quite Borgesian, I suppose...)
Yes, I think you're right.
Is anyone working on Borges and film?

Hi Felicity.

Its a little way off, but I am organising a screening of Double Take at the Birkbeck Cinema on Fri 22 July.  Tom McCarthy, who wrote the script, has claimed that it's based on a Borges story (presumably Borges & I).

Thanks, that sounds fab, I would love to come to that. Let me know if you need help manning the door or anything.
