Ecological Thought

Information

Ecological Thought

A group for the reading and discussion of ecological theory and criticism.

The majority of ecological theory centres on sustainability and being 'green', the latter as a synonym for the former. But arboreal green is only one colour amongst many: Ecological Thought seeks to consider what other colours or shades, ontologies or materialisms, might be employed in ecological theory and criticism.

In a few weekend's time there's a screening series and Symposium called Screening Nature, mostly at and around the Whitechapel - looks fairly interesting: http://screeningnature.files.wordpress.com/2013/04/full-schedule.pdf

Re-posting this interesting message from Sophie Jones:

Reading group members might be interested in applying for an AHRC travel bursary to participate in this upcoming project themed around Rachel Carson's Silent Spring, involving two workshops at York in March and Birkbeck in June. If anyone is interested in being involved, please do get in touch. Details: http://dandelionnetwork.org/events/silent-spring-chemical-biologica...
