This group has been established by Laura Mulvey and Leslie Topp to provide a forum for the discussion of the current situation of the disciplines of history of art and media studies, in the context of radical changes to the HE sector. It involves both the Department of History of Art and Screen Media and the Department of Media and Cultural Studies, and is open to all staff (permanent and sessional) and students studying at any level.
Our main activity is the planning of a workshop, scheduled for Saturday 25 June 2011, 2-5pm.
A meeting of a working party of all interested staff and students was held on 28 March.

The workshop itself, with the title 'Image Problems: History of Art and Media Studies in the New Higher Education Landscape' happened on 25 June, 2-5pm.
It consisted of a general introduction, break out groups, a report back session and a discussion of future action. Four main themes were discussed:
