A student-led research seminar focussing on the relationship between literature and the visual, with a focus from 19th century to contemporary. Run jointly by postgraduates from Royal Holloway and Birkbeck, but open to all.
We aim to bring together a lively community of researchers from across institutions, and hope to address: methodologies; different media such as painting, film and photography; wider cultural practices, such as fashion and applied arts; and scientific, philosophical or political approaches to the visual as reflected in literature. Sessions will be held three times a term starting in March 2013.
A regular forum in which to study key texts, debate current interdisciplinary issues and share knowledge, allowing students to meet others with similar research interests and present their own work. A number of sessions will involve academics working on the relationships between literature and visual cultures.

Our Spring and Summer events 2013 will shortly be announced, but we are always keen to hear from academics and students interested in presenting their work, or from anyone who wants to suggest topics to cover or reading to consider in a session. Email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
