Hello every person,

We are pleased to announce a new era of ON for this term.

Commencing on Weds 24th April, 6-7.30pm in Rm 112 @ Gordon Square we are going to pick up with the theme of SONG and continue the discussion we started last term. Please see the previous post below for handouts. Everyone is very welcome. Please bring any materials that you please - discussions tend to lead into interesting and unanticipated territory which is very much in the spirit of ON so don't feel that there is any specific agenda that we need to stick to. There will be wine and crisps and treats and dancing on tables*.

We hope to see many of you there!

Best wishes, Dan und Dan.

*dancing on tables is not permitted.

ON is back! Two dates for this term:

Weds 27th Feb. Gordon Sq, 112. 7.00-8.30pm
Weds 13th Mar. Gordon Sq, 112. 07.30-9.00pm
The first meeting of the ON Poetics Seminar's new incarnation will be ON TRANSLATION (Weds 27th Feb). We could take this any way we like: translation between languages, poems, people, computers, media, whatever.  As in previous years, we hope the theme will provide a jumping-off point for discussion that allows us to talk freely about what translation might mean in relation to studying poetry and poetic practice, not necessarily just 'straight' or technical translation. The version, the 'after', the adaption; even the parody, the transmutation, the borrowing or theft, respectful or otherwise. We've prepared a very short handout with some quotes, but please bring anything along you'd like to share, creative or critical, on the matter.

Hope to see lots of you there! Dan & Dan.

The next ON Seminar is scheduled for Tuesday 22nd March. Its
topic is 'Beckett, modernism and poetic self-expression' and
will be led by Robert Kiely.

We will be meeting slightly earlier this week to accommodate
the evening's Anne Carson event; the session will run from 5pm
to 6.30pm.

The venue remains the same: the Parlour, 32 Tavistock Square.
Refreshments, in the form of cheap wine and Kettle chips, will
be served.

If the new time is problematic, or if is this is too short
notice for you to be able to make it, please let Holly or I
know ASAP, and we can give some thought to rescheduling.

Hope to see you there,

Alex & Holly
