Suggestions so far:
Judith Butler (perhaps the first chapter of Bodies That Matter)
Jacques Derrida
Mikhail Bakhtin (perhaps one of the essays collected in The Dialogic Imagination)

Can someone remind me what we decided at the end of the seminar yesterday? I think I remember that one person said they had seen Carol and that'd she'd suggested a shorter essay by Butler instead of a chapter of Bodies That Matter?
It's also been mentioned that now, or in subsequent seminars, it might be good to read some more recently-published work. I'd like to suggest a paper by Jasbir Puar (who we heard about from Dave yesterday): '"I would rather be a cyborg than a goddess": Becoming-Intersectional in Assemblage Theory', Philosophia, 2.1 (2012), 49-66. A public pdf of it is here: http://www.jasbirpuar.com/assets/JKP_Cyborg-Goddess.pdf.
I've not read most of it, but I think would be a good starting point for discussion, as well as being diverse enough to have something to do with what most people are working on.
Hi, thanks for this Robbie. The Jasbir Puar suggestion sounds good to me, if others are ok with that. Or, an essay from 'Precarious Life' by Butler if we wanted to take that route. Was there also a suggestion of some object-oriented ontology reading?
Precarious life sounds good, which essay would you suggest? Though I think it might be too late for next thursday – Carol emailed me on Friday saying she'd like to get the readings sorted before the weekend so that they could be sent out monday/tuesday this week; I said we'd all settled on Butler (which I think was the case?). Could easily email her tomorrow morning with a change of suggestion, but think there'd need to be a bit more discussion.
