Hello everyone,

The third meeting of the Ecological Thought reading group will be Tuesday 26th February in Room 112, 42 Gordon Square, 6-7.30pm. We're going to be discussing some short essays from a fine little book by Colin Ward called Talking Green. Ward was an 'alternative historian' and anarchist writing from the 70s about a range of topics like bioregionalism, housing and generally informal or unoffical uses of land and human engagements with both rural and urban environments.

I've chosen four brief essays from the book, which you should be able to download here: Talking%20Green%20by%20Colin%20Ward%2C%20a%20selection.pdf. The selection is loosely motivated by a focus on ownership ('Who Owns Nature?'; 'Whose Land is it Anyway?'), land use ('The Allotment Garden as Green Affirmation') and, if we get chance, moving on to the perennial question, 'Is Conservation more than Nostalgia?'

Hope to see you all there! Dan.

P.S. the book's also a really lovely object from Five Leaves Press (2012); in case anyone wants to buy it this is just down the road and they have stacks: http://www.lrbshop.co.uk/product.php?productid=60517&cat=0&...
