This may be of interest to members of the Modern Literature Group:
The Djuna Barnes Research Seminar
Hosted by the Institute of English Studies in collaboration with Birkbeck College, University of London, the Seminar is devoted to reading and discussion of the works of Djuna Barnes (1892–1982).
The aim of the seminar is to advance knowledge and understanding of Barnes' varied canon, as well as forge links among postgraduates and researchers across the UK with an interest in her work, milieu and impact on modernist literatures. We will take a variety of approaches to selected texts and extracts, from the recurrence of images and formal patterns and themes to historical, cultural, intertextual and transdisciplinary frameworks.
The Djuna Barnes Research Seminar is open to staff and postgraduates of the University of London, members of the academic community and independent scholars with a keen interest in both Barnes and associated artists and ideas.
For programme details, speakers and extracts see: http://ies.sas.ac.uk/events/seminars/DBarnes/index.htm.
There is an online space for the group, for anyone who wishes to join: http://artsresearchers.ning.com/group/djunabarnesresearchseminar.
Organisers: Cathryn Setz (Birkbeck College, University of London) and Caroline Knighton (Birkbeck College, University of London)
