Bridges, Shards and Scaffolds: Engineering as Fragment - 26th March, B02, 6pm

Dear Sparks, Chippies and PlumbersThis meeting's theme is a chance to engage with the man-made landscape; our theory text is an article from last month's LRB on urban design, attached below, and I can't wait to see what we can come up with in terms of our own texts/images/videos/music/artworks. Submit them below or email me within the next few days. See you in the basement (appropriately enough)!BeatriceSee More

Organs (and Bodies without them) 29th January, 6pm

Dear Organic EntitiesOur first session of 2013 is about Organs as fragments, so we'll be reading a (very brief) excerpt from Deleuze and Guattari, and there's a wide range of primary texts in the document attached. We'll be meeting on Tuesday 29th January in the Keynes Library, 6-7.30, with wine and crisps (to examine the impact on our livers!) and we hope you can all make it!Beatrice and EmmaSee More

The Map as Fragment: 11th December, 6 pm, Room 112

Dear Bits-iansOur theme for this session is the map, and its always-incomplete relation to reality. We'll be considering everything from physical to mental to political geography, and how they're all cropped when curtailed on a map.The theory text is attached here, which is quite broad-ranging, so do let me have your selections from your research in response!BeatriceSee More

F-F-Fragments: broken sounds and communication, Tues 13th November, 6pm, room 112

Hi Fragmentors,This week's theme is broken/mispronounced oral sounds (thanks, Pauric), everything from stammers and stutters, to mental blocks, to chattering teeth, and anything else you find interesting.I've attached a brilliant talk of Steven Connor's (thanks, Emma - if pushed for time focus on pages 1-2, 7-8), and there's also a document with selections from Dickens, Eliot and The Who, and I hope there will be either more excerpts (very short ones) or possibly audio-visual material from…See More

Hi Beatrice. I really enjoyed the session on Underground. I have something to offer on bridges, but haven't figured out how to get it on the system. Can you advise please? Geoff

Thanks Beatrice, I found your presentation so interesting - hadn't realised we had so many research interests in common. Would definitely love to meet up for a chat some time, I reckon we should set up some kind of body reading group too - there must be other people about with similar ideas! Oooh and thanks for the Gomel article, hadn't seen that one before!
