Profile

James Emmott is a Lecturer in Victorian Studies in the Department of English at Queen Mary University of London.

His work has appeared in Victorian Studies and the Journal of Victorian Culture, and he is currently writing a book about the techniques and technologies of recording and reading the voice and face in nineteenth- and early twentieth-century science and culture.

He serves as Membership Secretary to the British Association for Victorian Studies.
